These black and gold knives are a lovely addition to kitchen counter. As well. as being strong excellent knives that do a proper job of cutting (the weight is pretty good, they fit nicely in my hand) this gold set is remarkably pretty and very decorative. I do not put them in the dishwasher though. Chef's knives should never be put in the dishwasher anyway to save them from losing their sharp edge, and also I didn't want the gold finish to wear off from the forced rush of. water. Mine are two years old and they are still beautiful and only just now needing sharpening. All professional chef's knives need to be kept sharp and be given a good serious sharpening once or twice a year depending on how much they are used. Needing this upkeep does NOT mean that the quality of the implements is lacking in any way!The only problem with them that I can see is that they have nearly doubled in price since I bought them a couple of years ago but that is a general problem in these uncertain financial times. The thing to do is wait for a coupon which they sometimes have and grab a set then.
